My dream job would be providing spiritual and companion care to the dying. I want to be called in to hold ritual, vigils, and create a peaceful space for the spirit to leave the body
How a person goes about doing such work I have no clue, but boy is it the dream
Where I live we have a program called TIP (Trauma Intervention Program) that is volunteer run and works closely with us on the ambulance when we have a death in the family we call them and they send a volunteer to help the family with the next steps, it also applies to other crisis situations but personally I call for them when I pronounce someone on scene.
There are also volunteer hospice services that preform similar services but geared more to the time before death occurs.
Many places have similar services, but the caveat here is that you dont get to interject your spiritual beliefs and what you do needs to be with consideration for what the family believes. That can be hard but I love working with people who are dying because I feel very strongly about providing people peace and dignity in their final moments, so for me it is worth it even when I disagree with families.
Anyways look into your local hospice and crisis volunteer programs! They absolutely exist and its a great way to help people through these extremely vulnerable moments.
I have considered volunteering at a hospice house, and I did build some connections with a few durring my end of life doula class. It probably would be a good place to start, I just wanna do more work with pagan-minded and/or spiritually alternative (for lack of a better word) folks who are seeking end of life companions specifically.
I have lots of experience in crisis intervention and emergency mental health care, as well as in mobilizing patients who may be bedbound. So these are skills and areas im familiar with, and ideally i wanna use all these together and market myself as like an independent doula for people with alternative spiritual views. With my EOL doula cert I could probably do this too, I’m just bad at dealing with the bureaucracy behind setting up a business and wished organizations like this already existed for me to join and offer my services through.
I totally noticed your tags way after the fact lol but those all sound like great starting points! I still would advise getting back into that scene so that you can network because its a great way to make connections on the more business side of things, all that said tho I totally get being adverse to that side of it lol

I just about shit my pants the day he bought a camel. On the plus side, I now have (very brief) experience handling & caring for a camel. On the downside, literally everything got worse when the camel arrived.
been seeing far too many ppl talking about ICE detaining black citizens in chicago going “where are they going to send them back to?????” like you have severely missed every single warning sign that you’ve been given and deeply misunderstood what’s happening. this was never about sending anyone “back” it’s about murdering them and/or using them for labor. the fact that you can get this far into this and think ICE just wanted to send latines “back” is fucking crazy please read something. anything.
and like it makes the lukewarm fucking response to this shit make sense bc these people genuinely thought that they were just sending people back to their country of origin like. oh okay so you didn’t believe us when we said we were getting detained and disappeared and killed. you just thought it was a kind of sad thing but ultimately not that bad. you really didn’t listen when we said this was going to start happening to everyone the government deems undesirable regardless of citizenship. right. of course you didn’t care.
